Management Team

Matthew F. Trapani – President & CEO, Board Member
Matthew F. Trapani is President & CEO and Board Member of Gateway. Mr. Trapani has lead Gateway on providing a world class sales and customer service organization as well as a global, high-speed, reliable and secure futures, options and forex trading network and clearing service. He is an experienced executive who has been in the technology services business for the past two decades. A seasoned entrepreneur who brings a unique blend of business development, marketing and engineering expertise from the technology industry, Mr. Trapani has founded several successful technology companies, held senior positions in companies such as Motorola and Oracle-TimesTen and consulted for companies such as General Electric, SBC, Cingular and Federated Department Stores. He also holds several technology patents. Mr. Trapani has a Bachelors and Masters of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management all with Honors.

Thomas A. Mueller – Chief Operating Officer, Board Member
Thomas A. Mueller is the Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of Gateway. In his capacity as COO of Gateway, Mr. Mueller oversees all daily operations of the business and provides strategic guidance for business development and growth. Mr. Mueller has been with Gateway since February of 2002. Prior to joining Gateway, Mr. Mueller spent 20 years with ABN AMRO Incorporated (“AAI”) and its predecessor company, The Chicago Corporation (“TCC”). Mr. Mueller was a Senior Vice President with AAI and a member of the senior management team in the futures division. Mr. Mueller studied accounting and business management at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. He is a registered futures associated person, registered futures principal and a registered securities representative. He has been active as a member of various committees at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and in the Chicago Division of the Futures Industry Association.

James Ashley - Managing Director of Global Exchange Traded Derivatives, Board Member
James C. Ashley is the Managing Director of Global Exchange Traded Derivatives and Board Member of Gateway. Mr. Ashley is responsible for institutional sales and marketing for trade execution and clearing services throughout the world. Prior to joining Gateway, Mr. Ashley spent 5 years at HSBC Bank Plc-Global Markets. As the Director-Head of Sales and Marketing (Exchange listed), EMEA. Mr. Ashley also served in senior level sales and marketing positions at Emagine/GFT Barcelona SPAIN, Deutsche Bank AG London, Deutsche Bank Securities, Merrill Lynch, Salomon Brothers, Discount Corporation. Mr. Ashley graduated from The University of Iowa in Business Administration and Loyola University in Economics.

David J. Kenneth – Chief Financial Officer
David Kenneth is the Chief Financial Officer of Gateway. In his capacity, Mr. Kenneth is responsible for overseeing all financial operations as it relates to the Gateway firms worldwide including the new FCM setup and launch, overseeing the monthly financial close process of the multicurrency general ledger, all Regulatory and management financial reporting, Cash Management and Treasury, Credit Committee. In addition, Mr. Kenneth contributes to management, strategy decisions and Board of Director activities. Prior to Gateway, Mr. Kenneth served in Senior Financial Management roles in Ronin Capital, Melvin & Company, Strategic Opportunity Fund, Shatkin, Arbor, Karlov & Co and Rodman & Renshaw Capital Group. He also holds licenses in the Series 7, 24, 27 and 63.

John Resek – Vice President of Operations
Mr. John Resek is the Vice President of and Operations. He is responsible for all customer service, risk and clearing operations. Mr. Resek has been instrumental in building a world class service organization with experienced professionals and comprehensive support processes to serve a high growth global market. Mr. Resek has over eighteen years of client services experience in the futures industry. Among many high profile organizations, Mr. Resek has held management positions at UBS, ABN AMRO, Chicago Corp and O'Connor & Company. He holds a B.S in Business Administration from the University of Kansas, an MBA in Finance Analysis from DePaul University and is licensed with the Series 3.

Lawrence R. Hansen – Chief Technology Officer
Lawrence Hansen leads Gateway’s Information Technology organization that supports existing and emerging advanced trading technology solutions. Under Mr. Hansen’s leadership, Gateway has built and maintained world class financial technology systems that support its global, high-speed, reliable and secure futures and forex trading software, network and clearing services. In addition, Mr. Hansen and his team have been at the forefront of leading edge algorithmic trading infrastructure, consultation and solutions to provide and support the emerging trading technologies and methodologies throughout the world. Mr. Hansen is instrumental in technical sales support and public speaking throughout the world. Prior to Gateway, Mr. Hansen worked as the Director of Technology for xSquawk the leading provider of Internet based Financial News. He also was a professional trader of electronic futures and has worked on the CME and COMEX trading floors. With education in Math and Physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA, and a long history that includes programming, infrastructure design, networking as well as futures trading background, Mr. Hansen maintains a unique blend of trading and advanced technology leadership in the financial industry.

Mary Chuipek – Compliance Officer
Mary Chuipek is the Compliance Officer of Gateway. Ms. Chuipek joined the management team at Gateway from Fortis Clearing Chicago, LLC where she held the title of Compliance Officer for three years. Prior to Fortis, Ms. Chuipek had been a compliance professional for a number of futures firms including Alpha Investments and First Options of Chicago. Ms. Chuipek has been instrumental in launching Gateway as an FCM and has prepared all the compliance requirements for Gateway including client account agreements. She is also responsible for regulatory oversight of all of Gateway’s activities. Ms. Chuipek is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in Corporate Communications.
